Q:How do I access/use the USB port on my router?

A:

IMPORTANT: D-Link does not guarantee the compatibility of all USB storage devices or printers.

 


 

Please select the type of device you are trying to use:

 

1. Printer 

2. USB Storage 

 


 

 

PRINTER

 

Note: All device drivers MUST be already installed on each computer.

 

Step 1: Download and install the D-Link SharePort Plus utility for your router:

 

Windows Users - Click Here 

MAC Users - Click Here 

 

Step 2: Connect your printer to the USB port on your router.

 

 

Step 3: Launch the SharePort Plus utility. Your printer should be displayed.

 

Step 4: Right-click on your printer and click Properties.

 

 

Step 5: Click on the Optional Settings Tab, enable Auto Connect and select Connect Automatically only for Printing.

 

 

Click Apply and then OK.

 

 

Setup is complete. All print jobs should now go through your router. 

 

 


 

USB Storage

Windows 

 

Step 1: Connect your USB drive to the USB port on your router. 

 

 

Step 2: Click on Windows key  + R on your keyboard. Then type \\192.168.0.1 and press OK. Note 192.168.0.1 is the default IP address of your router. If you changed the IP, then type that instead. 

 

 

Your drive should now be accessible. 

 

Note: If prompted for a username and password, enter the routers log in information.

 

 

Step 3: Right-click your USB Drive and select Map Network Drive.

 

 

Step 4: Assign a drive letter and Click Finish.

 

 

Your USB drive is now mapped and accessible. 

 

 


 

macOS 

 

 

Step 1: Connect your USB drive to the USB port on your router.

 

 

Step 2: From the Finder, click Go > Connect to Server.

 

 

Step 3: Enter SMB://192.168.0.1 and click Connect.

 

 

Step 4: If prompted for a username and password, enter the router''s login information.

 

 

You can now access your USB drive.
